Returnable recycling is even easier now with Return-it Express Depots opening across the Lower Mainland of BC, Canada. We are delighted to be partnering with Alderson Elementary School in Coquitlam, BC! The Grade 5 children collect all the recycling in the school and we collect it from them and take it to our local Return-it Depot.

We just type in our number at the label station, pop the labels on the bags, drop the bags in the Express bin. So easy! Our account is credited soon after and the proceeds are split 50 -50 between Alderson Elementary School and ASHOG School on La Gonave Island, Haiti. We just started this last term and already have funded a school bench for the ASHOG School – pic to follow!

If you would like to support this project please simply put our number 604 563 7994 on your Return-it Express labels! Many thanks.

URGENT Appeal for Childrens Home!

We URGENTLY need to rent a small, secure house just for the children and their nannies – the private home for them to live in will no longer be available to us as of April 2016!

We also need more furniture, kitchen items, bedding, shoes and clothes for the children. However we are barely surviving month to month to provide the childrens food, water, childcare, education, clothing and medical care.

Please consider making a donation, however small, so we can rent a safe home for the children. We are aiming to raise enough funds to rent a home for 2 years, the badly needed items for the household and the childrens food for the remainder of this year.

PLEASE VISIT THE gofundme CAMPAIGN AND HELP US KEEP THE CHILDREN SAFE!

Thank you so much,

LGCCA & ASHOG

Medical Outreach Clinics

October 2015

Ariel view of Anse-a-Galets, La Gonave Island

At the invitation of ASHOG and with their assistance, we ran our first week of Outreach clinics in remote areas on La Gonave Island, Haiti. Over 4 days we visited Roche Campe, Bwa Boule, Chen Kontan and Morne Augustin. We treated more than 100 patients per day and distributed de-worming medicines and multivitamins to scores more children. At each place the need for medical care was overwhelming. Malnutrition, unsafe drinking water and poor living conditions were at the root of many of the medical problems we saw.

COFFEE MENU

We offer 4 blends which are designed to fit within a particular

taste profile. Fans of expresso, dark-roast coffee and decaf will find

something to suit their taste within our selection of blends:

EXPRESSO JJ

Notes: Hints of caramel and toasted nuts. Also brews a mild drip coffee.

Our signature expresso, the JJ is bright and lively with a pleasant sweet acidity.

Ideal for anyone who uses an expresso machine at home.

EASTSIDE

Notes: Earthy dark chocolate and floral notes. Makes a complex espresso.

Great for both drip and espresso brewing, Eastside has a well-rounded

body and muted acidity, without being especially dark.

As an espresso the Eastside has a fuller body than the JJ, with notes of earth and dark chocolate.

RAILTOWN

Notes: Very dark, smoky and roasty. Full-bodied with no acidity.

If you like your coffee dark look no further. This blend is all about that smoky, carbony quality that dark coffee drinkers crave, with a huge body. This will definitely get you up in the morning!

DECAF

Notes: Sweet, mild and chocolaty. Great for drip or espresso. Decaffeinated using the Swiss Water process, our decaf tastes every bit as good as our other blends, minus the buzz.

Orphaned Twins Need Formula

twins twin These 2 month old twin boys are desperately in need of nutrition for the next 2 years. Their mother died one month after giving birth and now their grandmother and aunt are struggling to feed them. They live in a remote area near Morne Augustin on La Gonave Island and came to our medical clinic this month. We are looking for at least $75 USD per month to provide infant formula for them so if you are able to donate anything at all please click on the PayPal link. The aunt and gran are doing their best to care for them but are extremely poor, underweight and malnourished themselves. They have been giving the babies water, rice and occasionally cows milk, which is all they have. We were able to give them one tin of formula which was all we had but are hoping that we can find some support for these little babies. We will be gifting them a goat so when the babies are older they can have goats milk, but for now they need formula.
